When we took on this job near Wymondham in Norfolk, we didn’t realise just how big a challenge it would be. But when we say there’s no job to big for Gutter Guru, we mean it!
This beautiful country house presented some pretty unique challenges.
The many gables of the house meant that valleys and box gutters were located in a number of places around the roof. Typically, a box gutter is ‘trapped’ between two roofs that feed rainwater into it. The water is drained via downpipe nozzles, or via a sumps & downpipes built into it. This means that the gutter if often incredibly difficult to access, and being stuck between two gables, fills with double the amount of debrit, detritis and moss that a normal gutter would. This can lead to serious issues with overflowing which can then cause leaks and damp inside the house.
As well as this, the guttering on this house featured a number of hoppers. Traditionally, rainwater hoppers, which are also known by the term ‘hopper head’, sit at the top of the drainpipe and their purpose is to increase water flow during periods of heavy rainfall. Generally, drainpipes are only a third full when diverting water away, but the hopper enables them to reach capacity. Despite their intended purpose, these too can easily become clogged, and need careful and regular maintenance.
Luckily, all these extra elements are no match for the Gutter Gurus, and armed with our trusty SkyVac, we were able to assess, vacuum and clean every inch of the guttering on this stunning house in next to no time! Just take a look at the before and after photos below!
